Proactive Hydronic Boiler
Control System With Weather Anticipation
Update:
January 7, 2020 The United States
Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
granted a patent
for our Hydronic Boiler Control System
With Weather Anticipation. Additional
patents are pending in the United States
and other jurisdictions.
*****
Typical
reactive indoor / outdoor hydronic boiler
temperature controllers used in large
residential complexes monitor the
outdoor temperature, and use this
information to adjust the boiler
temperature based on the outdoor
temperature. As the outdoor temperature
drops the boiler temperature is raised
and as the outdoor temperature rises the
boiler temperature is lowered.
When a thermostat in an individual
apartment or condominium reaches the
desired set point it sends a signal to
close the zone valve. Controlling the
boiler water temperature relative to the
outside temperature minimizes the zone
temperature overshoot after the zone control valve is closed.

Our patented Weather Anticipating Hydronic
Boiler Controller monitors internet based
weather forecasts and proactively adjust the
Hydronic boiler temperature in advance of
outdoor temperature changes. When it is cold and
the weather forecast indicates that it will be
getting warmer that our hydronic boiler
controller adjusts the hydronic boiler
temperature lower in advance of the change in
outside temperature.
 |
Most boiler installations with indoor
outdoor temperature controllers also
shut off the boiler when the outdoor
temperature rises above a predetermined
outdoor set point and turn the boiler
back on when the outdoor temperature
drops below the predetermined outdoor
set point.
In this example our Weather Anticipating
Hydronic Boiler Controller monitors the
weather forecast data and shuts off the
non-condensing Hydronic boiler 2.5 HR
before the outdoor temperature rises.
The residual heat in the hydronic system
maintains zone temperatures and the
operational time of the boiler and
energy consumption is reduced by over
20%.
|
In this example our proactive weather
anticipating hydronic boiler temperature
controller monitors the weather forecast
data and lowers the hydronic boiler
temperature in advance of the actual
outdoor temperature with an estimated
savings of 11% for this day.
Our systems use Wireless Internet
Connection so installation or upgrades
are quick easy and another benefit of
our system is remote monitoring and
including boiler alarm notifications,
allowing service personal to be
dispatched before the tenants call.
